Deserving Honour For Garda Bart Howard - Garda Bart Howard, The Cottage, Coolcroo, Two-Mile-Borris and based at Thurles Garda Station is congratulated on his selection as one of “The Person of the Year” awards by Thurles Credit Union. He received his deserved award at a recent function celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Union and which also honoured the 2011 unsung heroes in the community (a yearly appreciation to recipients). Bart certainly falls into that category and his services on many occasions in the parish and further afield has gone well beyond the call of duty. He is involved with different organisations such as Community Alert, Victim Support, Positive Ageing, Community Employment Scheme and at traffic controlling at funerals and other events. A conscientious Garda, his affable manner has made him most popular with all strands of people. At short notice he is available for any call. Bart came to Littleton from Dublin sixteen years ago and has served the general area excellently since; he was nominated by the Two-Mile-Borris, Moycarkey and Littleton Community Alert committee. Again our felicitations to a great Garda.
