A local Councillor has paid tribute to the staff working at St. Anne’s Care Home in Roscrea , in the wake of the a new report which is highly critical of the centre.
Cllr Michael Smith said the staff at the Centre, which cares for residents with intellectual disabilities, are “professional, committed and dedicated, and have been down through the years.” Cllr Smith told the Tipperary Star that these last few months have been very difficult for the staff and the institution, and the “great work that St Anne’s has done down through the years.” The Home, run by the Daughters of Charity Disability Support Services Ltd., has been “put to the pin of their collar” in relation to funding, said Cllr Smith.
St Anne’s is also conducting its own inquiry, and carrying out an action plan to address concerns raised in the report. Cllr Smith said nobody could condone some of the critical aspects of the report, but “to my knowledge , none of the staff members have been investigated.”
