Nenagh Town Council has been asked if it needs to have “severe parking restrictions” on the outskirts of town because of extra parking spaces at the Scouts Hall and Hanlys Place.

Cllr Tom Moylan wants pay parking at Ashe Road, Pound Road and St Conlon’s Road removed from draft on-street parking bylaws. He said the areas were previously exempt.

Town manager Marcus O’Connor said the areas had remained in the bylaws following requests by local businesses due to people parking there all day. “If people have complaints, let them make submissions. We’ve never had any complaint,” he said.

The council deferred putting the bylaws on display to see if the areas were exempt.
