Last Saturday Tomas McDonagh Pipe Band members assembled at the Town Hall at 12 noon to start a 5 hour marathon fundraiser. The weather was perfect for such an event and we made the most of it.

Our Pipe Major, although hindered by an old war wound, started off the proceedings with a few lively tunes ably assisted by other pipers and drummers. This was to be the scene until the clock struck 5pm and the entire band formed a circle and gave a rousing selection much to the delight of the large gathering. The success of this event was due largely to the generous support of the local people {who are never found wanting when it comes to supporting the band} and the visitors who pass through the town during the day. To our collectors and counters and everyone who contributed to making this day a great success we thank you sincerely. To our younger members who never cease to amaze with their energy and commitment many thanks. A special mention to piper Sean Quinn who celebrated his 21st birthday over the weekend and to Drummer William Carey who celebrated his 21st birthday recently. Both members were presented with the traditional Scian Dubh. Our next outing will be in Killea on the June weekend and we hope to see you all there.

The band would like to offer our deepest sympathies to members Ger and Cillian Roche and family on their recent bereavement.
