Drama Group - Last Friday night the local group got the nine day Co. Tipperary Drama Festival off to an impressive start, with their production of the play “God of Carnage”, a play about two pairs of parents whose child of one parent hurt the other child and the parents came together to discuss the matter in a civilised manner. During the discussion the parents themselves become more childish, resulting in utter confusion and complete disorder. A very full hall with the audience thoroughly enjoying the play, it was hilarious in parts. The group are to be congratulated on their production; The Director, Pat McGrath, Actresses, Jacqui Lacey and Salome Hennessy; Actors, Marty O’Neill and Derek O’Doherty; Lighting, Paddy Connolly; Set Constructors, Pat McGrath, Andy Slattery, Catherine Lowry; Set Design/Dressing, Catherine Lowry, Marian Gilmore; Sound, Joanne O’Neill; Make-up, Peg Ryan; Continuity, Sally O’Rourke; Set Crew, Diane Lacey, Claire Ryan, Geraldine Henchion, Elaine O’Dwyer, Gerry O’Dwyer, Jack Henchion, Kevin Darmody, indeed we salute you all. Having taken part in other Festivals over the last few weeks, they won three which assured their entry in the All-Ireland (Confined) final. Finals to be held shortly in Rossmore, Cork.

Co. Tipp. Drama Festival - The Festival continues nightly concluding on this Saturday night, March 23rd when the final adjudication will be announced. Audiences have enjoyed many nights of great drama enacted here. As there are only three nights for drama left, you still can see local Moyne Group with “Sive”, tonight Thursday, on Friday night, Thurles Group with “All My Sons”. Thurles so far are doing well in the Festivals and on the final night, Saturday, Prosperous Dramatic Society will stage the play “The Goat, or who is Sylvia”. The curtains close on that for the 2013 festival and we all look forward to the 2014 Festival.
