The last meeting of the Cashel St. Patrick’s Parade Committee saw a number of key jobs being taken on by enthusiastic volunteers.
Probably the hardest task this year is to step into the capable shoes of the late Martin Browne who had been the Parade’s MC since it was re-established in 2004.
Wally Ryan will be taking on the role of MC and it will be her job to describe the vehicles, floats and walking groups. Wally would be more than happy if anyone who is taking part could send her a printed outline of their entry so that the crowd get to know all about them.
Safety and Garda liaison will be handled by Dr. Niall Gregory, who is a qualified Safety Consultant and has had vast experience of planning out door events with the St. Patrick’s Parade, Cashelised and the EURO Rural Charter.
Shaun Leahy will be in charge of the technical side of things, running the Town PA and making sure the bands and acts are on the plaza to entertain the crowds before the Parade begins at 2pm. Shaun has years of experience with sound systems, working with Waterford Spraoi, the Cork St. Patrick’s Parade, Cashelised, the EU Rural charter of course the Cashel St. Patrick’s Parade.
The next meeting of the Parade committee will be on Thursday 26th of January at 7;30 in Mikey Ryans.
Folks are reminded to that there is a fund raining Table Quiz for this year’s parade on Thursday 2nd of February at 8 pm in the Brian Boru. Tickets are €20 per table and there is a first prize of €100 for the top team on the night. Tickets from Committee members or they can be reserved from the Secretary: Sean Laffey on 06262685.
