A Feasibility Study to Prioritise and Evaluate Potential Capital Works and Annual Maintenance and Management Program has now been produced by Mr Alan Sullivan NDip BSc MIFM, Mr Simon Furney BSc MIEM and Mr Billy Flynn BSc HDip MIEM.
The committee have discussed this document with North Tipperary Leader program and a sizeable grant is available to advance the restoration of the Lake. We are at present in discussions with our Town Council and a favourable decision is awaited at the next council meeting.
Presently we are undertaking a topographical report on the surrounds of the lake
The capital works program is in 6 parts
1: construction of new sluice and overspill
2: water input, retention and turnover.
3: building raised walkway and angling stands on western fringe of lake.
4: dredging a silt trap, creation of open water above bridges and site specific dredging within lake margins.
5: fencing of watercourses entering lake.
6: the impact of poplar trees and transpiration rates on lake and their removal.
The full report is available from Jim Hassey on a read and return agreement
Tender documents are being prepared for the above restoration.
