Senior Citizens Club: Annual outing for the parish Senior Citizens will take place on Thursday 7th July. The outing includes a trip to the English Market in Cork (recently visited by the Quen of England) and Mahon Point Shopping Centre. Cost is E5. Senior Hurling: Ballingarry were narrowly beaten on Sunday evening last by only 2 pts. by Carrick Swans at Kilsheelan in the South Senior Hurling Championship.

Athletics: Children representing Ballingarry will have county finals of Athletics in Templemore on Sunday 26th June next. Please be there before 11am to take part in the areas parade which precedes the competition.

V.H.I. Cúl Camp: will take place in G.A.A field from the 1st to the 5th of August. Any one wanting to take part must contact Kathleen Walton as soon as possible as the kits have to be ordered. Ballingarry G.A.A shop will be opened on the 2nd July in the G.A.A centre from 11:30am till 12 noon.

Famine 1848 Walk: Rev Ian Cruickshank, Rector of Kilcooley and Crohane, will lead this year’s Famine 1848 Walk. The Walk which takes place on Saturday, 30 July at 3pm commemorates all those who died during the Great Famine and the 1848 Rising which took place in Ballingarry in the middle of the Famine. The rebel leaders, several of them from the Protestant tradition, were transported to Van Diemen’s Land. The Walk will begin at the National Flag Monument in The Commons and proceed to the Famine Warhouse at Farranrory Upper. The distance of 1 1/2 miles will be covered at an easy pace. Refreshments will be served at the end of the Walk. The Walk takes place hail, rain or shine, on the last Saturday in July, the day of the Rising. All are welcome to this event which is organised by the Ballingarry 1848 Committee.

Eucharistic Congress 2012: Sunday June 24th is the feast of Corpus Christi. As part of the lead up to the Eucharistic Congress there is a special celebration in the Cathedral in Thurles @ 7p.m. on Sunday June 24th. Each Parish is asked to nominate someone to receive the Eucharistic Congress Candle. This candle will be a focus point in the preparation programme for the Congress.
