Fine Gael’s Cllr Tom Moylan told Nenagh Town Council he would oppose any “sterilization” of car parking places under the town’s proposed traffic and transportation plan.
Town engineer Peter Fee revealed the move might be needed to accommodate buses under a plan to redesign the bus stop at Banba Square.
However, Cllr Moylan maintained that there was no problem with buses stopping, but there was with illegal parking.
“Thankfully a Department plan for Banba Square to redesign the bus stop there has died a death,” he said.
Mr Fee told Cllr Lalor McGee that the council was looking at putting in extra disabled parking places.
