Cllr Denis Ryan raised the worsening condition of the stretch of road between the Templemore Road Roundabout and Kennedy Park in Roscrea at a recent area meeting of North Tipperary County Council.
Parts of the road are subsiding, with large cracks emerging and with winter approaching there is a real danger of serious damage to traffic and road users alike.
Area engineer John Jones pointed out that this is a national secondary road and is the responsibility of National Roads Authority.
Mr Jones has agreed to contact the NRA and outline the seriousness of the situation.
Cllr Ryan pointed out that as this road is carrying increased amounts of traffic since the new motorway opened, he urged that contact be made with the NRA immediately so that improvements could be carried out before heavy rains and frost arrive in the coming months.
