Fianna Fáil Councillor Gerard Fogarty has welcomed Thurles Town Council’s decision to allow free parking on Saturdays effective immediately.

“I’m delighted that after Councillors failed to agree on two motions by Councillors Ryan and Cleary to allow two hour free parking in three car parks, that my proposed amendment to allow free parking in all the car parks in the town on Saturday mornings was adopted by the Councillors. The debate was a much welcome change to that which descended on the Chamber last February with some Councillors insulting the hardworking traders in the town blaming their difficulties on failing to offer value for money.
