The Source 'Youth Arts Summer Programme' transform Thurles skate park with street art

Now in its eleventh year The Source Arts Centre 'Youth Arts Summer Programme' has brought together another spectacular ten-day project.

‘Beyond the Frame‘ has transformed two spaces with amazing artwork, one in the Thurles skate park and one in the car park beneath The Source.

Artist Cormac Cullinan, who specialises in street art, worked with the Spanish and Irish students for five days and along with some volunteers as well they have totally transformed the spaces. It is amazing what team work, incentive and a touch of paint can do.

Well done to all involved!

More photographs of the work carried out can be seen on The Source Facebook page (facebook.com/thesourceartscentre) while the team will also feature on the 'Tipperary Matters' programme on Irish TV in the next couple of days.

The programme runs until Saturday, July 16th - for further information please contact the The Source Arts Centre box office on 0504 90204 or, alternatively, you can visit thesourceartscentre.ie.

LEONARDO'S

'Leonardo’s', The Source arts camp, will feature in Thurles from Monday, July 18th to Friday, July 22nd (10.30am to 3.30pm daily).

Like the camp’s namesake the organisers will try to turn your designs, doodles and drawings into masterpieces. Participants will look at famous artworks, make paintings, watch famous short films and make some noise in the music section of the camp. Perhaps we should call it the Leonardo-Mozart Camp? But maybe we will just leave it at 'Leonardo’s'.

This camp is suitable for children aged to seven to twelve years old. Tickets are priced at €80 (€120 for two siblings).

ROADHOUSE DOORS

The Roadhouse Doors will feature at The Source Arts Centre in Thurles on Friday, July 15th (9pm). The show is a complete tribute which works to recreate the look, feel and sound of a live 1960s Doors concert.

This gig is a must-see for anyone who enjoys good live music, and not just Doors fans. The band's set will span the very best of the Doors repertoire, focusing mainly on the Jim Morrison years and includes the very best Doors songs including the big hitters such as ‘Roadhouse Blues’, ‘Riders On The Storm’, ‘Light My Fire’, ‘The End, Peace Frog’, ‘When The Music's Over’, ‘Break On Through’, ‘Love Me Two Times’ and more.

To get that edgy, authentic 1960s Doors sound, the band use genuine vintage equipment - similarly to The Doors themselves - including Vox Continental and Hammond Organs, Rhodes Electric Piano, and Gibson SG Guitars.

This is a standing (stalls) and seated (balcony) gig. Special access and wheelchair users please inform the box office at time of booking that you may need accessibilty seating. Tickets for the concert are priced at €13.
