Holycross Ballycahill GAA and Camogie clubs are joining forces to bring a most entertaining night to the general public when The Dome at Semple Stadium will rock to the sound of local performers in Stars in Their Eyes.
Saturday March 5th is the date for what promises to be a magnificent event when scores of well known locals will don the costumes and take to the stage in a bid to become the star billing in the parish.
Everyone from Elvis Presley, to Springstein, the Pussy Cat Dolls to The Bangles, will be included on the night, by the sixteen stars (some of whom are pictured below) who have been working so hard since January to get the vocal chords into shape, and the steps all in sync. They have been under the watchful eye of Thurles lady Derlene Cleary who also joined up with the clubs for the very successful Strictly Come Dancing last year which proved to be an outstanding success - it was a massive night for the parish in The Dome also, and the hope is that Saturday March 5th will be a repeat of that.
All of the arrangements are currently being made by the hard working committee and there will be a full bar available on the night to go along with the superb entertainment guaranteed. The parish has a very rich history of stage performance with the local drama group very highly regarded - the Tipperary Drama Festival kicks off in the Holycross Community Centre a week later, but for now the focus will be on The Dome and the securing of tickets for what is a very eagerly awaited evening.
Tickets are priced at €20 and are available from Camogie club Chairman Noel Ryan at 086 1751808 or from any of the committe members. They are also on sale in The Thatch, Ballycahill and Gormans shop/pub Bohernacrusha. Doors open at 7:00pm with the event kicking off at 8:00pm sharp. And, long after the stars have left the stage, there will be plenty of music and entertainment from Midnight Run, to ensure that a fabulous night will be had by all who attend. The adjudicators for the event will be Tipperary senior hurling captain Brendan Maher, well known theatre star Diane Lacey, and two of last years Strictly stars Martina Caesar and Kevin Darmody.
The host for the night will be Holycross Ballycahill GAA club Secretary Donal Ryan - the parish' own Daithi O'Sé, so expect plenty of humour, banter and craic from behind the mike! So, mark the date in your diary and get your tickets for Holycross Ballycahill's Stars in Their Eyes.
