Templemore Lake Project

The Lake Project is nearing completion with the lake’s water levels expected to return to normal in the next couple of days, the Templemore Eco Lake Committee is delighted to announce. The results of the Project will enhance both the lake and park as a whole.

The restoration work began eight months ago and was first muted in 2009, when the Committee was formed. The Committee wishes to thank the contractors involved and the public for its support and patience.

Over the last number of months, the lake has been extensively dredged of silt, which had built up over a number of decades. The partial draining of the lake was necessary to facilitate this.

Through the use of diggers and other excavating machinery, the lake is now significantly deeper. This increased depth will help prevent stagnation and reduce the appearance of unsightly algae blooms. During the Project, the opportunity was also taken to clean the lake’s islands.

Furthermore, the lake’s new water feature will be installed within the coming weeks, subject to water levels. The Committee believes this will add greatly to the appearance of the lake. Progress at the lake can be monitored through our website http://templemorelake.com/index.html.
