Sarsfields 0-27

Kiladangan 1-15

Thurles Sarsfields won their 35th county senior hurling title at Semple Stadium this afternoon following a comprehensive win over Kiladangan.

From the outset the victory was never in doubt as Sarsfields smashed over nine minutes in the opening ten to establish a lead they never relinquished. The champions were simply untouchable and their 0-15 to 0-6 interval lead gave little chance of a revival from the north champions.

Kiladangan did have a Joe Gallagher goal at the start of the third quarter but they were unable to build on the score and Sarsfields ran clear to win the three-in-a-row with great ease.

Sarsfields captain Padraic Maher accepted the Dan Breen Cup and dedicated it to the late Mickey Rattler Byrne, the club President who died this morning. Rattler had won 14 county senior hurling titles with the club.
