Shane Ronayne ratified as Tipperary intermediate ladies football manager

Shane Ronayne.

Shane Ronayne was ratified as Tipperary intermediate ladies football manager for 2017 at the October County Board meeting held on Monday, October 10th.

Shane Ronayne will be joined on the management team by strength and conditioning coach/selector Alan O’Connor (Cahir), selector Tony Smith (Moyle Rovers) and goalkeeping coach Tomás Mac a tSaoir (An Gaeltacht and UCC).

Shane is well known within Tipperary ladies football - he managed the minor team from 2007-10 (winning the Munster B championship in 2008, 2009 & 2010). In 2010 he managed and coached the under-16 team to a Munster B title while as manager of the senior team in 2009 Tipperary were promoted to division one of the National Football League.

More Shane recently was involved with the Munster inter-provincial ladies football teams as a selector in 2016 and manager in 2015. Shane was also assistant manager and coach with the Cork senior ladies football team 2014-2016 and is currently coaching the UCC ladies football team and the reigning Munster senior club champions Mourneabbey.

Strength and conditioning coach/selector Alan O'Connor will bring a wealth of experience to the intermediate set-up. Alan was also recently appointed strength and conditioning coach to the Tipperary under-21 football team. In 2016 he was strength and conditioning coach with the Wexford senior football and has also worked with the Loughmore-Castleiney senior hurling and football teams in recent years. Indeed, Alan O'Connor was due particular credit in 2013 when the conditioning of the Loughmore-Castleiney players propelled the Mid Tipperary club to a famous county hurling and football double. Alan was also the fitness trainer and coach with the Cahir intermediate Camogie team which won All-Ireland club honours. In 2011 Alan was also the strength and conditioning coach with the Tipperary minor footballers team which famously won the All-Ireland title.

Tony Smith was a member of the management team which helped the Tipperary ladies football under-14 team to All-Ireland titles in 2015 and 2016 while goalkeeping coach Tomás Mac a tSaoir is a former Kerry senior footballer and is a coach with the UCC ladies football team.
