North Tipperary senior hurling champions Kiladangan are back in the Tipperary Water County senior hurling final for the first time since 1938 following their victory over Killenaule this afternoon in Semple Stadium.

Kiladangan 2-16

Killenaule 0-12

North Tipperary senior hurling champions Kiladangan are back in the Tipperary Water County senior hurling final for the first time since 1938 following their victory over Killenaule this afternoon in Semple Stadium in front of 4,421.

A goal from wing forward Joe Gallagher in the 11th minute gave them a decisive 1-9 to 0-8 interval lead, but Killenaule had racked up nine wides in the half - errors which proved very costly in the final analysis, in what was a low key, tight game.  Kiladangan too proved inconsistent in front of goals but they had more options in attack, whereas Killenaule needed to get county star John Bubbles O'Dwyer into the game, and it wasn't happening for him.

Joe Gallagher goalled again for Kiladangan ten minutes from time, just moments after a Killenaule goal chance had gone abegging at the other end.  And, that just about ended the game as a contest eventhough Killenaule did all in their power to breach the Kiladangan rearguard before the end - John O'Dwyer blazing off the upright at the very death from a free.
