Ballyhoura Active

We had a quiet week this week, but as the sun climbs over the hills earlier each morning we are beavering away in the background and next Saturday morning 20th Feb at 10am in the Ballyhouras, we have our second last Trail run. Reg will be from 9am so please be on time.

This route is just under 5km and starts on the Forest road Just beside the bike centre. We go up to the Trim trail turn right and follow it all the way around and go up the steps in the glen then turn right and stay on the trim trail and on the way back down just past the trim trail we turn right and cross over on to the Nature trail. Then follow this all the way down into the old Castle Oliver car park and then back into the finish in the trailhead. Please wear trail shoes on the day as some of the single track may be slippery. Also if you know other people travelling on the morning please arrange to travel with them as it is €5 per car in the car park and spaces may be limited. We would discourage you from parking on the road as it is narrow and some cars have been damaged on these roads. Map will be on the website and on the Facebook page.

Michael Halpin from Kilfinane AC called into the office where he was presented with the cup for the people’s choice, the favourite race of the Ballyhoura active series 2015.

Kilfinane AC went to great lengths to find a route which was flat and fast and reduced the race length from 5 miles to 4 miles. In most villages this may be no big deal but Kilfinane is the highest village in county Limerick so flat and fast courses are hard to come by.

The new route was a major success, it wasn’t the biggest race of the series but the feedback from its first running was very positive. So we all look forward to June in Kilfinane and a fine evening to make it the perfect event.
