The 2013 North Tipperary Sports Partnership Grant Scheme for Clubs and organisations, focused on Clubs that are just newly formed in the last twelve months.
Six clubs /organisation from North Tipperary each received an equipment grant of €250. The recipients were Holycross Ballycahill Ladies Gaelic Juvenile Club, Borrisoleigh Town Park, Monaincha Walking Group, Gleann Glas Residents Group, Littleton Development Association and Midlands Artistic Gymnastics Club.
Speaking at the Grant Presentations Night in LIT Tipperary Elaine Cullinan, Sports Co-ordinator with North Tipperary Sports Partnership acknowledged that although the equipment grants were quite small this year she hoped that they would in some way assist clubs with equipment purchase or initital set up costs and that North Tipperary Sports Partnership will continue to support these new groups as much as possible.
Three further clubs, Nenagh Taekwondo Club, Ballymackey Football Club Ltd and Thurles Sarsfields GAA Club received grants to assist them in making their facilities accessible to people with a disability. North Tipperary Sports Partnership has a very strong Sports Inclusion Programme which increases participation in sport and physical for those with special needs. However finding venues which are suitable for running these programmes can be quite a challenge!
Ciaran Lynch, Chairperson, North Tipperary Sports Partnership, commented that the Sports Partnership was delighted to be able to support clubs in these difficult times in any way possible, and that we look forward to working with all clubs to increase participation in sport and physical activity for all in North Tipperary.
