Clodiagh U13’s got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start last Saturday morning when they faced Shinrone at home in Drombane.
Midfielder Ryan Davern broke the deadlock after 15 minutes with a great strike from 20 yards. Keith Ryan made it 2-0 soon afterwards with another fine long range effort.
The visitors found themselves three down minutes later courtesy of a deflected own goal following a dangerous cross into the six yard area. Just before the break full back AJ Shanahan played a through ball for Jack Ryan Casey to run onto and slot home Clodiagh’s fourth.
In the second half the home side didn’t have it all their own way as Shinrone battled hard to reduce the deficit. However Luke Shanahan fired home Clodiagh’s fifth after a mazey run. With victory looking assured the home side got caught napping in the final ten minutes when Shinrone got in for two late goals to leave the final score 5-2 to the Drombane boys.
Team: Darragh Bourke, AJ Shanahan, Paddy Ryan (L), Patrick Purcell, James Griffin, Keith Ryan, Sean Ryan, Aidan Slattery, Luke Shanahan, Ryan Davern, Jack Ryan Casey, Cathal Ryan and Joey O’Donoghue.
