Upperchurch Drombane man Peter Ryan is packing his bags for Montreal this week as he prepares to jet over for the World Road championships in tandem cycling. The former Tipperary minor hurler will compete for Ireland in Para Games having just taken up the sport recently.
Peter has lost the central vision in both eyes having contracted Lebers disease and has had his life turned upside down in a very short space of time.
However, he has quite literally gotten back on the saddle thanks to cycling which has given him a real focus.
“I have never trained as hard and I never realised how much sport meant to me until I was unable to play hurling,” he told The Tipperary Star this week.
