Thurles GOBA Night

The feature race of the night was the final of the Tipperary GOBA A3 Stake which had a winners prize of E1700 and was won by Thurles Sales purchase We Was Happy [Daves Mentor – Long Finger] who came from what looked like an impossible position on the back straight to win. From traps it was Drumwood Hill who led and stayed in front to the third bend where Faithful Times took it up and led to the home stretch where the winner took it up and went on to score by a length and a half from Emers Boy in a time of 29.60 with Faithful Times another half length back in third place. The winner was winning for the sixth time and is owned by the One Or Six syndicate. Maurice Leahy and Tom Simpson represented Tipperary GOBA.

Race one: The opening race on the card the final of the Tommy Kerrigan A4 Stake was won by Ursulina Murphys Bernies Glory [Westmead Scholari – Bernies Boss] who was lead early on but was passed at the bend by the winner who went on to hold off the late challenge of a strong finishing Slaneyside Whirl by two lengths in a time of 29.49 with Dublinhill Hawk another three and a half lengths back in third place.

Race two: The second race on the card a semi final of the Track Supporters Club A6 stake was won by Michael Nagles Rathbay Jack [Blackstone Gene – Kewell Customer] who led from flagfall and made every post a winning one holding off the late challenge of a strong finishing Leemount Fizz by a head in a time of 29.40 with Kilmessian Katie another six lengths back in third place.

Race three: The second semi final of this stake was won in the marginally slower time of 29.43 by Aidan O Gormans Knockboy Lilly [Nobooth For Gary – listen Carefully] who scored an easy all the way seven lengths win over Zip Maeve with Glen Roundy another short head back in third place. The winner was making it two wins from four starts.

Race four: The fourth race an open sprint was won by Kilcloney Tiger [Hades Rocket – Kilcloney Wine] owned by Johnny Manogue who was returning after a layoff. After a fairly level break the winner showed in front to the bend and from here on was never headed going on to cross the line two and a half lengths clear of Hayses field in a good 19.41 with Aero Prince another length and a half back in third place.

Race six: This race the final of the novice stake was won by Paddy Brennans Druminagower [Farley Turbo – Lemon Bolt] who came from a long was back to win. Here Kizzys Court was the early leader and led to the top bends where the winner came through and went on to hold off the late challenge of Move Over Ozzie by a length in a time of 29.46 with Kizzys Court another length and a half back in third place.

Race seven: This race the a heat of the Thurles Stadium A3 600yd stake was won by Triangle Lucca [Premier Fantasy – Triangle Mercury] who came through on the home stretch to win. Early on it was Tubrid Beauty and the winner who disputed it with the winner proving the stronger on the home stretch to go on and win by a length from a strong finishing Kilmessian Header in a time of 33.54 with Slaneyside Yank another half length back in third place.

Race eight: Another to come from behind was Martin Griffins Muloc [College Causeway – Nebraska West] in the second heat of this stake. Here Sullane Fluffy made the early running with the winner coming through at the third bend and going on to win by a length from Tagalong Hi Rum in a time of 33.73 with Gimme Rumble another length back in third place. The winner was making it three career wins.

Race nine: The third heat of this stake was won by Arcade Suzy [Head Bound – Reggies Fantasy] owned by the Jim Con Dan syndicate. Leading from traps the winner was never headed and went right away to make it three career wins when crossing the line five lengths clear of a strong finishing Thornbird in a good 33.28 with Droopys Catherine another length and a half back in third place.

Race ten: The last race on the card was won impressively by Glengall Girl [Dukes Special – Glengall Beauty] owned by John J Dunne. Getting a flier from trap three the winner made it two wins on the trot when going away to score by five lengths from Old Hollow Flash in a time of 29.12,the fastest over the standard distance with Active Song another three and a half lengths back in third place.

Friday Night

The eight race on the card the Jamie Boyle Memorial Buster Race returned the fastest time of the night at Thurles on Friday night when the Derek Kehoe trained Slaneyside Beryl [Archaton Pine – Ardera Dilemma] owned in partnership with Anthony Lawlor scored a trap to line success making every post a winning one the winner went on to cross the line four and a half lengths clear of Kevinsfort Haze in 29.34 with Scholar Philpot another four lengths back in third place. The winner was making it four career wins.

Race one: the opener was won by Corriin Alex [Black Shaw – Corrin Queen] who made all the running to win by four lengths from Barnane Brae who was always second in a time of 29.70 with Rockview Hi anther five and a half lengths back in third place. The winner is owned by Martin Sweeney and Gary Carroll.

Race two: Bandicoot Nell made a winning debut when taking the second race on the card. Leading out the winner was passed to the bend by Pine River who led on the back. On the home stretch the winner came through again and held off Invincible Hawk by a short head with Pine river another half length back in third place. The winner is owned by Ann Callanan.

Race three: Ann Taylors Follow The Robin [Central City – Mary Kates Coin] took the third race on the card a sprint. Here CAtherines Bolt made the early running with the winner coming through on the run for home to get up to score by a length and a half from Robeen Gold in20.04 with early leader Catherines Bolt another length back in third place.

Race four: Jogon Rose [Brett lee – Final Patsy] owned by Otto Daniel Kearns and trained by Keith Mason came in as a reserve to the fourth race and duly obliged. Leading down from trap one the winner was always in command and went right away to win by ten lengths from Private Hands in a time of 30.29 with Prince Of Fire another length back in third place.

Race five: The fifth race on the card an a5 600yd event was won by Maria Nierobisz Kishlawn Wonder [Crash – Kishlawn Ten] who won for the third time when crossing the line two and a half lengths clear of Active Air in a time of 34.14 with Montore Sunshine another short head back in third place.

Race six: The sixth race on the card resulted in an all the way win for Pukka Prince [Ballymac Ruso – Pukka Babe] owned by Patrick Dorney. Getting a flier from trap four the winner was always in command and stretched clear to win by seven lengths from Quick Biddy in 29.99 with Kizzys Call another head back in third place.

Race seven: The seventh race on the card a sprint was woon by Thomas o Dwyers Smokey Symbol [Central City – Smokey Zero] who was winning for the second time Although headed from traps the winner led to the bend and went on to win by two lengths from Black Hawk Found in a time of 19.75 with Vancouver King another length back in third place.

Race nine: trainer Derek Kehoe completed a double with his charge Slaneysided Magee [Archaton Pine – Ardera Diamond] in the final race of the night. Owned by Caran Hehir the winner came through at the top bends and went on to score by a length from Cavecourt Fly who was second in a time of 30.24 with early leader Rockview Head back another length in third place.
