Friday’s weather played havoc with the planned scheduled competition at the weekend causing the first event of our Golfer of the Year schedule, the Bogey Cup, to be postponed to a later date. However, the course recovered very well and a fourteen hole Stableford competition went ahead on Sunday.
The winner was Pat Kavanagh (17) with a score of 36 pts. PJ Mackey (8) was second with 35 pts and Jamie Lowry (13) was third on 33 pts piping John O’Mahony (20) into 4th place, also on 33 pts, on a countback. Kevin O’Dwyer took 5th place on 32 pts.
The coming week, Holy Week, is indeed a busy one for the course. On Wednesday the 9 hole Shotgun for Juveniles will be played on the front 9 starting at 3.30pm. Thursday is our first Thursday Singles of the year. On Good Friday, an Open Singles Stableford competition is scheduled. Easter Saturday features an Open Team of 3 event, any combination. On Sunday it’s Open Singles and on Easter Monday there is an Open Team of Four, also any combination. On the Social side, a very enjoyable table quiz organised by the Social Committee took place last Friday night, with the inimitable William O’Grady as Quiz Master. The winning team was Tom Fanning, Michael White, Seán Watts and Padraig Mullins. In second place were Brigid McCormack, Frank Rafter, Betty Rafter and Mary Phelan.
Sunday evening and the Clubhouse was the venue once again for the weekly Lotto draw. The winning numbers were 3, 11, 28 and 30. There was no jackpot winner; however there was two match three’s, Fiona Treacy and Mark Ruddy. The jackpot next week will be €2,800. Tickets can be purchased from any Committee member, from the bar, office or pro-shop. Our sincere thanks to all our promoters and supporters.
