Seamus O Riain Cup Final
A dominant second half display saw Moycarkey Borris retain the Seamus O Riain Cup over Boherlahan Dualla on Saturday evening in Holycross.
As the whistle echoed around the ground for half time there was just two points between the respective competitors after a fragmented opening period. There was a market change in the pace of play from Moycarkey’s forward line after the break and they capitalised by raising their first green flag six minutes later. Following a long delivery down field Ciaran Clohessy was first to react to the breaking ball and as he began to manufacture a path to goal he spotted team mate Robert Doran had escaped the attentions of his marker.
Clohessy popped the hand pass to Doran and off his left hand side 20 yards out from goal he thundered a low and hard effort leaving Joe Ryan with little chance between the sticks for Boherlahan.
From this moment on the defending champions never looked back and with ten minutes left on the clock they found the net again as Doran turned provider hand passing to Pat Carey. The wing forward burst onto the ball and soloed towards the target. With no challenge forthcoming he steadied himself once in range and off his left he fired a shot that squeezed in at the keepers near post to put the final nail in the Boherlahan resistance.
