Congratulations to Holycross Ballycahill on winning the County Junior A Hurling Final replay against Kilruane MacDonaghs at Templemore on Sunday last on a scoreline of 4-17 to 1-10. It is their fourth title and their first since 1988. It was the second county title of the year having won the Minor B county title earlier.
ST. PATRICKS IN MUNSTER JUNIOR HURLING FINAL
Hard luck to St. Patrick’s on their defeat to Meelin of Cork in the AIB Munster Junior Club Hurling Final against at Mallow GAA Grounds on Sunday last.
County Convention takes place in the Dome at Semple Stadium on Monday evening next, December 20 at 8pm. It will be preceded by Mass at 7.30pm. All clubs are asked to ensure they are represented.
FOOTBALL BOARD CONVENTION
The Football Board Convention takes place at the Anner Hotel Thurles this Thursday night at 8pm. The convention will mark the retirement of Eddie Lonergan as Secretary after well over 20 years of dedicated service to Tipperary football. Eddie will be a very hard act to follow and while he will hopefully continue to be involved in some capacity, he will certainly be missed from his role as Secretary. We congratulate him on and thank him for his long tenure, his meticulous work during his term and his great commitment to Tipperary.
DIVISIONAL SECRETARIES RETIRE
Jerry Ring has retired as Secretary of the West Tipperary GAA Board after 29 years of service in the position and Ger McKeogh will retire after 12 years as Secretary of the North Board at the forthcoming North Convention. Both have made outstanding contributions to their divisions and to the county in general during their time as divisional secretaries. Divisional Treasurers Tom Cusack in the South, John O’Donovan in the Mid and Catherine Gleeson in the North are also stepping down due to the 5 year rule. We wish them well and thank them also for their sterling contributions. We look forward to all of the departing officials continuing their involvement in the GAA in various other capacities.

MOYCARKEY-BORRIS ANNUAL CLUB NEWSLETTER
The annual Moycarkey-Borris GAA club newsletter is now on sale. The newsletter includes 40 A4 size all-colour pages with over 130 photos bringing the activities for the 2010 season to life. The content includes a review of the club activity from the Senior grade all the way down to the Under 6s. County titles came back to the parish courtesy of Two-Mile-Borris National School and the Ladies Footballers at Under 14 and Under 16 level and these successes are profiled. Successes further afield are also covered such as the Moran brothers lining out for Pete Finnerty’s Mayo and Tom Quinn winning an All-Ireland Colleges medal while Willie Cashin outlines his first year as President of the European GAA Board. Our Scór na nÓg County Champion Novelty Act, Kieran Morris becoming the 6th Moycarkey man to win an All-Ireland Under 21 medal and the switching on of the lights in our New Field are other highlights. Pride of place goes to the 1982 / 1984 Moycarkey-Borris County Championship winning teams honoured by the County Board in October and by the club in January when GAA President Christy Cooney and Today FM’s Paul Collins attended our Gala Dinner to pay tribute to the successful players of that era. Retailing at 8 euro, the newsletter is a good read for Moycarkey-Borris GAA club supporters and beyond. Well done to everyone who contributed material for the newsletter and to the Newsletter committee of Club PRO John Kelly, Norah Maher, Cathal Ryan and Club Secretary / Editor Ed Donnelly for producing another memorable account of the year’s activities. Copies are available from local shops in the Horse and Jockey, Littleton and Two-Mile-Borris or may be ordered from Ed Donnelly at 087-2055642.
