The A.G.M. of Skehan’s Golf Society took place in the clubhouse on Saturday, 9th November.
There was a good attendance with many aspects of the society being discussed and plans made for the coming year where the prospect of a return trip to Portugal in late October being the undoubted highlight.
Our Secretary, John McGrath gave a comprehensive run down on the society events over the past twelve months and Treasurer, Damien Byrne showed that our finances were in a healthy state.
Our out going Captain, John Malone thanked everyone for their co-operation during the year.
Next on the agenda was the election of a new captain and committee to bring us into 2014.
Our new captain is Thurles Sarsfields man (Borrisoleigh man ??), Declan Curtis. John McGrath, Damien Byrne, Damien Kinnane, Don Cunningham, Pat Lineen and John Malone make up the six man committee where no less than five counties, Tipperary, Carlow, Limerick, Waterford and Down are represented.
Skehan’s Golf Society is now in its sixth year with a core membership of fifty golfers.
New members are always welcome into the Society.
Courses picked for the following year are Shannon, (April 26th), Castlemartyr, (May 24th), Ballykisteen (September 6th) and Dundrum (October 4th).
Anyone interested in making the Portugal Pilgrimage should make contact with a committee member as soon as possible.
This trip is open to all, non members of the society and non golfers alike.
Our next meeting is scheduled for early January.
