The winner was Una Ryan’s Circus Whip who was led for some of the way. Here Riada Lauryn led in the early stages but was passed at the bend by the winner who went on to hold off the late challenge of Fiery Eyes by two and a half lengths in a time of 29.61 with Rossmult Hawk another two lengths back in third place to take the winners prize of E600 which was kindly sponsored by Declan Beary.

Fastest run of the night was that of Lakeshore Lane owned by Sean McDonald who clocked an impressive 29.11 when taking the first round of the Thurles Poker Players A3/A4 Stake. Showing a good turn of early foot the winner led was always in command holding off the late challenge of Borna Native by two and a half lengths.

The opening race, an A3/A4 event, was won by Michael Minchin’s Drumgower Major who clocked 29.49. Here Beannacht Move made the early running and led to the bend where the winner took it up and went away to score by three lengths from Beannacht with Head On Score back another half length in third place.

The 2nd race, a heat of the Poker Players A3/A4 stake, was won by the reserve Lemon John Joe owned by Denis Lennon.

The winner took it up from early leader Winspiration on the back straight and despite running wide held on to win by two and a half lengths from Winspiration with Tyrap Ben another length back in third place.

Race three, another heat of the Poker Players A3/A4 stake, was won by Milestone Lucy owned by John Carr and trained by Billy Dwan. Here Monroe Locket led down with Milestone and Triangle Archie taking it up on the back straight. Here the two had a tussle with Milestone proving the stronger pulling away to win by four lengths in a time of 29.23 with early leader Monroe another four lengths back in third place.

The fourth race, an open sprint, was won by Darragh Dwan’s Thurles Sales purchase Colorado Steve. The winner led out was passed but came again to win by three and a half lengths from Fork Handle in a good time of 19.51 with Woodsgift Turbo another length back in third place.

The 5th race, another heat of the Poker Players A3/A4 stake, was won by Liam Dwan’s Boherna Spirit who came from behind to win. From traps it was Rallying Raider who led and she was still in front at the top bends where the winner came through to go on and win by two lengths from Rallying with Mijas magic another two lengths back in third place.

Hello Suzy was the early leader in the seventh race and she led to the back straight where the winner Tubrid Beauty took it up and went on to score by two and a half lengths from the long time leader Hello Suzy in a time of 29.54 with singing Hen staying on to take third place another half length back in third place.

The 8th race, an A3/A4 570 yd event, was won by James Ryan’s Private Number who was making it two on the trot.

This lady trained by Maurice Leahy was led in the early stages by Centenarys Royal but took it up here and went right away to score an impressive three lengths win over Slaneyside Yank in a time of 31.87 with early leader Centenarys Royal another short head back in third place.

The last race on the card was won by near veteran Drunken Thought, owned by the Cocktail syndicate. Trained by Joe Tobin this fellow was led in the early stages by Dannys Zebo but took it up at the bend and went away to score by a length from Dannys Zebo with Anytime Jim another length and a half back in third place.

Friday Night

The fastest time of Friday nights programme at Thurles was the performance of the Imelda O’Dwyer’s Windmill Circle in the last race on the card an A2/A3 race who clocked 29.51.

Race one A4/A5 525, Here the Keith Mason owned and trained Fully Tuned won for the second time and recorded 29.74 in the process.

Race two a S6/S9 360yds, here the novice Speed Of Light owned by Ollie and Billy Gooney was most impressive when clocking a good 19.58.

Race three, a N2/A8 was won by Michael Kinanes Kevinsfort Lova who came through some third bend crowding to go and win by a fast fading short head from Hannigan in a time of 30.91 .

Race four A5/A6 void. Race five, a A5/A6 570, the second heat of the Pokers Players Stake, was won by Eva Mitchell’s Miss Understated who came from behind to win.

Race six resulted in an all the way win for Shane Everard’s Lisheen Vixen who led from trap to line in a time of 29.54.

Race seven a A7/A8 525 saw Galtee Millie finally scored her first victory in a time of 29.49.

One to watch

One to watch One to keep an eye for the future is the novice Speed Of Light who made an impressive debut over the sprint distance on Friday night.
