Thurles native launches Equus Live - a dedicated equine experience

Equus Live is the first event of its kind to be held in Ireland and promises to be an un-missable equestrian experience celebrating “all things equine”. This two-day event will promote and showcase all breeds and disciplines of equestrianism from thoroughbred to sport horse to ponies. Equus Live 2013 will take place in Punchestown Racecourse, Co. Kildare from Saturday, November 2nd to Sunday, November 3rd.

Equus Live is an all indoor event which will cater and appeal to all audiences and levels of interest. An indoor arena will be combined with approximately 120 shopping stands. The arena will host competitions, spectacular displays, demonstrations and equine master classes with some of the world’s leading equestrian stars. A “Speakers Corner” in the heart of the shopping village will mean visitors can “get up close and personal” with leading names in the different equine sports and also enjoy talks, book signings and partake in question and answer sessions with Ireland’s ‘leading equine riders, vets, breeders to name but a few.

For shopping enthusiasts, an extensive village will feature over 100 equine related retailers, ensuring visitors to Equus Live will have access to Ireland’s leading equine and country brands - to kit themselves, their yard, their horses and homes out in style. Similarly, an innovation area will allow exhibitors to showcase and launch products that are new to the market allowing businesses introduce new ideas to the industry. A panel of industry experts will award prizes including a bursary and mentor advice to winning exhibits.

Speaking at the launch Simon Coveney, TD and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine said: “This is a wonderful event, a showcase demonstrating the strength, depth and breadth of the Irish equine sector. Horses, thoroughbreds and sport horses, are a very important driver of economic activity in this country. The range of products and services on show here today remind us all of the ripple effect the equine sector has on the economy as a whole. Punchestown is an ideal location for this event with it’s close links to the thoroughbred and sport horse industries”.

Equus Live is the brain child of entrepreneurs and horse aficionados Amber Byrne and Joanne Quirke. Amber is one of the equine industry’s leading event professionals, with unrivalled experience in managing some of Ireland’s largest equine events – including The Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair and the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Expo and Symposium. As Operations Manager for Fairyhouse Racecourse, the home of Irish Grand National, Joanne oversaw the management of this top racing venue and has over 10 years’ experience in both business development and operational management in leading organisations in Ireland.
