North Tipperary Sports Partnership is hosting this seminar, developed and delivered by the National Coaching & Training Centre and Lucozade Sport. This sports education programme, offers clubs and sporting organisations an opportunity to access free education designed for regional standard athletes, players and level 2/3 coaches in the area of sports science.

This seminar will highlight the following topics: Feeding Performance, Why is food important?, Increasing Muscle Mass, Timing of nutrient intake, Type of Food, Dental Health, Fact Sheet Summary.

Whether you’re working with underage or seniors players there will be plenty of relevant information for you to take from this seminar.

This is a two hour workshop followed by 15 minutes for questions and answers. If you are involved in a sport, coaching or a selector, this seminar is a must for your club.

Committee Training Workshops for Sports Clubs - North Tipperary Sports Partnership is pleased to announce a Committee Training Workshop that will run over three consecutive Mondays. The overall aim of this workshop is to make the work of Committees/Boards more effective, better able to respond to difficulties and more rewarding for members.

The topics covered in the workshops include: An awareness and clearer understanding of the founding and governance documents of the organisation and its structures (eg Constitution, Standing Orders) and the implications of those documents and structures (if any), A clearer understanding of the role of the committee within these structures, An understanding of the elements of a good committee process using a co-operation rather than a control-based model, The specific functions and responsibilities of the key officers of the organisation especially the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer which may vary a little from organisation to organisation.

The workshop will be run by Ciaran Lynch, (Development Manager) in LIT Tipperary, Thurles on: Monday 10th, Monday 17th & Monday 24th September, 2012
LIT Tipperary, Thurles 6.30-9.30pm.

Prior registration with North Tipperary Sports Partnership is necessary. A nominal fee of E25 per club is required to secure your place. It is important that two members from each organisation attend and are willing to commit to the three sessions in order to allow the learning to be communicated to your organisation. Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Training - North Tipperary Sports Partnership is pleased to announce further Child Welfare & Protection in Sport Basic Awareness training.

The course is aimed at sports leaders, children’s officers, parents or anyone working with young people in sport.

A central goal for all those involved in sport for young people is to provide a safe, positive and nurturing environment where children can develop and enhance their physical and social skills. Promoting a child-centred environment should go hand in hand with identifying and eliminating practices that impact negatively on safe and enjoyable participation in sport for young people.

The workshop will be delivered by John McElhinney, Irish Sports Council tutor, on: Monday 17th September, 2012
Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh 6.30pm – 9.30pm.

The training will enable Children’s Officers/Sports Leaders to: Implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants, Create a child-centred environment within the sports club, List categories of abuse and some indicators associated with abuse, Make an appropriate response to a disclosure, Make a report to designated officer or appropriate Statutory Authorities.

Prior registration with North Tipperary Sports Partnership is necessary.

A nominal fee of E15 is required to secure your place. A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded on completion of the course. Please book early as places are limited on the workshop.
