Popular Tipperary Games Development Administrator Andy Ryan is to take on the Dublin City Marathon challenge in memory of his late mother Betty (nee O’Gorman from Gortnahoe) with Diabetes Ireland to benefit from his efforts.

The Thurles man, who won a county u-21 championship with Sarsfields back in 1988, decided recently that he would walk the marathon and has been making preparations for it over the last few weeks.

“It’s just something I decided to do and since Diabetes Ireland is close to our family it was the natural charity for us to donate to. Mam was a diabetic and I am doing the walk in her memory,” said Andy who acknowledged that visitors to Sarsfields clubhouse would have known Betty well”.

Anyone wishing to donate can contact Andy on 087 9090985 or through Lar na Pairce, Thurles.
