We have all at some stage of our lives wanted to climb the hills and go out to the wilds and get a bit of excitement and fresh air.
We would all love to do it but maybe we have never got the chance. We have the perfect opportunity for you to do that very thing. Why not join us on a guided walk / hike to the Clear Lake in the beautiful Slievebloom mountains on Saturday the 14th of June at 11 am for a 10k that might just change your life.
The walk will be led by John O’Meara from the Roscrea Ramblers walking club and will be in aid of St Anne’s special school. The money raised will be towards the upgrading of the playground which is specially adapted for the children of the school. The donation for the walk is a suggested €10.
All you need to bring is a pair of old boots a fleece and a waterproofjacket in case of a shower. A bottle of water and a little something to eat.
There will be a choice of two walks one easy on a forest track and can be walked in runners . It will take about 2.5 hours. The second walk will take somewhere between 3.5 hours to 4 hours and will be done at a very moderate pace to suit all levels of fitness . You will need boots for this walk. We will of course take several breaks on our journey to help us achieve our goal. We will be crossing streams, walking through forests and bogs and taking in some of the Slieveblooms best scenery.A great day is guaranteed for everyone. If you are interested please turn up to register outside the hall in Kinnity village at 10 am.
Details of the walk and starting point will be given at the registration. For any inquiries please ring John at 087 2793901. Meanwhile, new members of Roscrea Ramblers must do 2-3 short walks before going on an intermediate or long walk.
