A magnificent second half performance from Villa’s U/12 team saw them come from two goals down to draw level with Clonmel Town in this exciting cup semi-final and hold their nerve to book their place in the final when they beat the home team in a penalty shoot out.

Villa conceded an early penalty and found themselves two down not long after and Clonmel Town looked like they had booked their final spot.

Half time words of encouragement from coaches Paddy Butler and Rory Dillon saw a different Villa in the second half and when Ronan McGuire reduced the arrears after ten minutes Villa were back in the game. Man of the match Jack Taylor was causing the Clonmel defence plenty of problems and it came as no surprise when Villa equalised through Ronan McGuire again. It was all Villa at this stage but Town held out and when extra time failed to separate the teams all Villa players scored from the spot with Town missing their final spot kick. A very good performance from this team with James Dillon and keeper Mikey O’ Connell also to the fore and we wish them the best of luck in the final.

Our U/15 side made it a double for Villa when they beat Cashel Town to book their place in the Tipperary Cup final. Villa led 4-0 at half time with defenders Colm Pearson, Aaron Callanan and Joe Hennessey leading the way with a goal apiece with Matthew McKevitt adding the fourth. Second half goals from Anto Walker (2), Darren McGuire and Aaron Callanan again completed the scoring for Villa who now meet Clonmel Town in the final. Maris Baltins gave a man of the match performance for Villa in midfield who now look forward to the final.
