Div One Shield, Ardcroney ‘A’ 1 vs Clodiagh Rangers ‘A’ 1 [4-2 pen.] - Clodiagh Rangers ‘A’ travelled to Ardcroney on Friday evening to contest their re-scheduled Divisional Shield semi-final in what proved to be an open game.

Clodiagh Rangers raced into an early lead when John Ryan’s precise first time finish from Tommy Steven’s cross was too good for the Ardcroney keeper. The home team recovered from their early set back and after establishing themselves in the game. With the game being played in good spirit, there were chances a plenty in the second half, and Clodiagh rangers were unlucky not to grab a winner in the second period, with Gareth Foxton, Shane O’Dwyer and Joe Cullagh going agonizingly close. With the visitors’ defence well on top, the Drombane side took a stranglehold of the game but could not find the breakthrough score that would earn them passage to the Shield Final. With the sides deadlocked at parity at full time, Clodiagh Rangers were punished for their profligacy in front of goal, as they were eliminated on penalties on a scoreline of 4-2. Gareth Foxton and Denis McCullagh netted for Clodiagh Rangers, but two missed spot kicks meant that Ardcroney progress to the Shield Final. Team: Adrian Cooke; Paul English, Shane Dwyer, Liam McCullagh, Michael Browne; Tommy Stevens, Gareth Foxton, Denis McCullagh, Shane O’Dwyer; John Ryan, Joseph Cullagh.

Training for Under 10’s and 12’s continues this Wednesday evening (22nd) at 7pm in Drombane as the new NTSDL league is due to kick off in the coming weeks. Please remember to bring shinguards.

Congratulations to former B team player manager and current committee member PJ Kennedy on his recent marriage to Ms Esther Mason, Thurles. We wish the happy couple many years of contentment.
