Tipperary’s senior footballers will have their first outing of the 2013 season on Sunday next when they take on Cork in the McGrath Cup.
Peter Creedon’s men have been busy making preparations for the season ahead and while the McGrath Cup will not be high on their list of priorities, it does, nonetheless, give the players a chance to show what they can do, especially against the like of Cork.
Conor Counihans Cork had an impressive 1-15 to 0-11 victory over Cork IT in the first round last weekend and the benefit of a competitive fixture will stand to them as they entertain Tipperary on Sunday in Pairc Ui Rinn.
The Tipp lads, under the management of Peter Creedon, Gerry McGill, Mick O’Loughlin and Tommy Twomey, will be without a number of players who are college tied including the likes of Peter Acheson, Alan Moloney, Ciaran McDonald, Conor Sweeney, Donagh Leahy and Robbie Kiely to name just a few.
It will be a big challenge for the Tipp lads as they travel south but it will give the management a chance to look at a number of players in key positions, in a very competitive environment.
The game goes ahead at 2:00pm in Pairc Ui Rinn.
