Borris-St Kevin’s - U12 cup - Cahir Park 4 Borris-St Kevin’s 3: Kevin’s U12s went out of the cup in a high scoring game away to Cahir last Saturday morning. Darren Flood with two and Peter Melbourne got the goals for Kevin’s in a game where they had plenty of chances to go through.

Borris-St Kevin’s - U12 cup - Cahir Park 4 Borris-St Kevin’s 3: Kevin’s U12s went out of the cup in a high scoring game away to Cahir last Saturday morning. Darren Flood with two and Peter Melbourne got the goals for Kevin’s in a game where they had plenty of chances to go through.

U14 League - Cahir Park 3 Borris-St Kevin’s 3: Cahir and Kevins played out a three-all draw in the league last Saturday in Cahir. The result keeps both teams in contention. Luke Nolan, Kieran Walker and Pierce Webster got the goals for Kevin’s.

FAI youths inter-league - TS and DL League 3 Kilkenny League 0: Tipp youths needed to win this vital game in Newhill Park last Saturday to advance to the knockout stages of the inter-league competition and they secured a great win with three second half goals to advance. There was very little between the sides in the first half, but Tipp got on top in the second half and Borris youth Aidan Croke scored twice to put them in a strong position with 15 minutes to go. Tipp were well on top now and scored again in the last few minutes to wrap up a good win in wet and windy conditions. Pierce Cleary (Borris) also came on for Tipp in the closing stages and did well.

Tipp Cup - Wilderness (Clonmel) 5 Borris 3: Borris went out of the Tipp Cup in a high scoring tie away to Clonmel side Wilderness last Sunday evening. Borris started well and had two good chances to score in the first quarter. Wilderness went ahead in the 20th minute and defensive errors cost Borris dear as they went three down before half time. Borris staged a good fightback in the second half with Rory Ryan hitting two and Richard McCarthy also on the score sheet.

BT Harps

Junior A’s 2 Sallypark 1 - The A Team added to their win over Borrisokane before the Christmas break with a win at home to Sallypark. Harps were well on top in the first half and went in at the break 2 up with goals from Mel McBride & Sean Guerin’s. Harps should have put the game beyond Sallypark after the break when Christy Moore & Johnny Coleman both came close. With 20 minutes to go the visitors pulled one back through a soft penalty. This left for a few tense moments in the final quarter put Harps held out for a deserving victory.

Youths 4 Nenagh Celtic 3 - The Youths had a good win away to Nenagh Celtic. Harps were 3-1 up at the break with goals from Brian Roche, Colin O Riordan & Karl Stakelum. Celtic pulled it back level in the second half but it was Harps that got the winner through Jack Fogarty with 5 minutes to go. U16’s 6 Nenagh Town 0 - The U16’s won on the road at Nenagh. With a Hat-Trick from Matthew Longe, 2 from Jamie Bergin & 1 from Emmett Moloney.

U14’s 1 Ballymackey 1 - Harps went 1 down in this game put Mikey Fogarty got an equaliser in the second half. U12 A’s 2 Shinrone 2 - This was more of 2 points dropped rather than 1 point gained. Harps went behind in this game and it took an equaliser in the last minute to get a share of the spoils. James Devaney getting both goals. U12 B’s 6 Nenagh Celtic 0 - The B’s had a comfortable win in the league away to Nenagh Celtic. Goals from Shane Sweeney (2), and 1 each from John Campion, Dylan Cody, Darragh Doyle & Gearoid Treacy.

U10 A’s 2 Holycross 2 - The A’s had a share of the spoils at home to Holycross. Both goals from Killian Fennell. U10 B’s 9 Ardcroney 0 - B’s had a comfortable win at home to Ardcroney. Goals from Jack Johnston (2), Mikey Fitzpatrick (2), David Delaney (2), Tony Cahill (2) & 1 from Michael Kennedy.

Thurles Town FC

Thurles Town had a fine 4-1 away win over Borrisokane after a well contested Premier League game played in Borrisokane on Sunday.

In a scoreless and very competitive opening half Town showed all the signs of the long break since their last competitive game, both sides created chances despite going close the half ended scoreless.

The second half saw the home side go a goal up 7 minutes after the restart with a well taken goal, Town  having shaken off the lethargic performance of the first half responded with good attacking football that was rewarded with a fine equaliser from Tom Brophy. Town continued to create the better chances and were rewarded when Padraig Fogarty was taken down inside the area  from the resultant spot kick he put Town 2-1 ahead with 18 minutes remaining. Padraig Fogarty was again on the mark with a fine finish following great work from Robbie Jordan. With 5 minutes remaining Robbie Jordan with a superb finish clinched maximum points  for Thurles Town.

On Sunday next Thurles Town are away to B T Harps in a League game with an 11.30 kick-off.

Peake Villa FC

On Saturday morning in the Tower Field the U/14 team progressed to the cup semi-final when they overcame visitors Clerihan. After a scoreless first half Frank McKevitt opened the scoring for Villa with a superb goal. A long ball from Eoghan Ryan in defence was controlled by McKevitt on the edge of the box and without letting the ball touch the ground he smashed a tremendous volley to the roof of the net giving the keeper no chance. Villa were two up ten minutes later when the keeper saved Ronan McGuire’s shot but Jack Butler was on hand to score. Clerihan pulled a late goal back but Villa progressed to the semi final where they will play either Burncourt Celtic or Moyglass. Villa U/16 team travelled to play Clonmel Celtic in another cup tie and came away with a five goal victory. Man of the match Jack Skehan scored twice for Villa with the other goals in a 5-0 win coming from Dale Loughnane, Anto Walker and Joe Hennessy. They now play Clonmel Town at home in the cup semi-final. On Sunday morning the Villa junior B team travelled to take on Tipperary Town B team in a league game and they hit seven goals with the home team only scoring twice.

Tomas Rykala was the scorer in chief; hitting the net four times with Jody Mahony, Dave Fitzgerald and Casper Wysocki the other Vila scorers. Villa 1st team were beaten by St. Michaels on a 4-2 scoreline in a league game played in the Tower Grounds on Sunday afternoon, with Christy Bourke the scorer of both Villa goals.

Fixtures: On Saturday morning Villa U/13 team are at home to Moyglass in a league game with kick off at 11am while the U/15 team travel to play Cahir Park in the first round of the cup, kick off at 1pm. Both Villa U/11 teams are away on Saturday with the A side travelling to play St. Michaels and the B team away to Clonmel Town B. Villa youth’s team are away to Clerihan in the Tipperary Youths Cup on Saturday while the Villa B team are at home to Borris B team in a league game on Sunday.
