Thurles Town bowed out of the Munster Junior Cup following a disappointing performance going down 5-2 to a strong Nenagh Celtic side.
In a well contested opening half Town went a goal down from a penalty after 12 minutes, a good response from Town saw them go close however a well taken goal from Celtic had them 2 up at the break.
In an incident packed second half Nenagh Celtic raced into a 3-0 lead 5 minutes after the restart.
A spirited reply from Town made it 3-1 with a fine finish from Robbie Jordan. Town enjoying their best spell further reduced arrears when Benny Connelly with a superb finish made it 3-2 with 30 minutes to play however a minute later a red card saw Town go a man down with 29 minutes remaining. Nenagh Celtic made the most of their numerical advantage with 2 well worked goals to clinch the tie and passage to the next round.
On Sunday next Thurles Town are home to Nenagh AFC in a League game kick off 11.30. Players are requested to report to the Greyhound Stadium at 10.30am.
