A busy weekend for the club starting on Saturday with our U14s travelling to face Limerick CC in UL.

This was in fact the first ever underage side to represent Thurles at Cricket and they did us all proud albeit narrowly going down to a more experienced Limerick outfit. Limerick making 110 runs in their innings with our lads making a creditable 84 in reply falling short by 26 runs. Wicket takers were Kyle Jansen 2, Kasim Baloch 1, Ashain 1 and Tom Richardson also taking a wicket. Worth a mention also is Kieran O’Dwyer who performed well in his wicket keeping role.

On the bat our best performer by far was Aaron Cawley who scored a fine 29 runs with Bashar Sayed backing him up well scoring 12. All in all a great effort for their first day out. Team: Aaron Cawley, Tom Richardson, Kyle Jenson, Kasim Baloch, Ashain, Ivan Cawley, Bashar Sayed and Kieran O’Dwyer.

On Sunday our Senior side were in action against Midleton CC in Ballyeighan and recorded a relatively comfortable seven wicket victory. The foundations for victory were set with a fantastic bowling performance as we bowled them out for 86 runs inside 30 odd overs. Sean Cawley returning amazing figures with a career best of 1 for 8 off of just 8 overs.

He was well backed up by asim 3 for 22 off of 8 overs, Ashan 2 for 19 off of 8 overs and Man of the Match Tom Maxfield getting the remaining wickets returning excellent figures of 4 for 13 off of just 5 overs. A small total therefore to chase and patience was the key here with plenty of overs in hand despite difficult conditions with a swirling and unpredictable wind. However our Batsman showed good intent and despite losing Mark Shakespeare in the second over we managed to settle down and see off the new ball with Kassim, Denis Walker, Fintan Moore and Ashan putting on the runs to see us home quite comfortably in the end. Fintan finishing 31 not out with ashan who was 16 not as they saw us over the line in the end to get our league campaign off to a good start. Well done to everyone and training continues mid week. Players will be notified re upcoming fixtures during the week.
