Congratulations Conor - The Woodies DIY AAI Juvenile Uneven National Cross Country Championships took place last Sunday in Adamstown, Co Wexford, where we had one athlete competing. Conor Cadell was competing in the Boys U11 1500m, with good underfoot and dry weather conditions Conor got a great start & remained with the leading group throughout the race.

With just over 100m to go Conor was in 13th place when he dug dip to put in a sprint finish to take 12th position and win a well deserved National Individual Medal, also winning a Silver Munster Provincial team medal by finishing 4th on the Munster Team. This is a fantastic result for Conor as he is very new to athletics and this was only his 3rd race for the club. This young athlete probably doesn’t realise how hard it is to earn medals at National level, so a big well done to him.

Finally well done to all our athletes who have performed fantastic throughout the Cross Country Season.

Training - Training will finish for the Christmas break this Wednesday December 12th and resume on Monday 21st January for all athletes with the exception of those who will be competing at the U13 – Junior Indoor T & F County Championships in January or the AAI Development Cross Country Championships in February, training for these athletes will resume on the Wednesday 2nd January. All other athletes can take a well deserved break until January 21st as the younger athletes will not be competing again until mid March. We take this opportunity to thank everyone for their dedication & hard work over the past few months and wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Juvenile Christmas Party & Annual Awards Night – will take place this Friday night (14th) @ 7.30pm-10pm in Templemore Community Centre (across from the Girls School). We are hoping to see as many children and parents as possible on the night.
