Thomas O’Murchu and Fedor Klimonov qualified for Finals and finished 7th and 8th respectively. Thomas showed good technique in preliminaries and Finals which resulted in 1.37 sec PB (Personal Best) and is just within less than two seconds of his Division 2 qualifying time. In Girls 11-12 age group Maebh Rafferty showed very steady performance swimming both laps of 50m each without slowing down. Alice Hayes swam in Girls 15 age group and came 7th in preliminaries securing a place in Finals, where she came 7th. Katie O’Flynn got a 2.85sec. PB.

The 100m Fly was the final swim of the day which brought gold to Tiger Sharks and made Fedor Klimonov Munster Champion of 2011 in 11-12 age group. Fedor came first in preliminaries showing fantastic time of 1:19 and leading the race during the whole distance, which made him very tired making it questionable for his gold in Finals. The school of John Hayes, Tiger Sharks Senior Squad Coach proved once again that it is not about how fast you swim – but how you swim fast, and Fedor pulled himself together and refused to give the leadership away to his competitors. Alice Hayes in Girls 15 age group swam in her usual confident manner coming second in the preliminaries, qualifying for Finals and finished Finals as a silver medallist of Munster Championship with terrific time 1:18 and a PB of 4.03 sec. Ciara Ryan came 9th in preliminaries qualifying for Finals where she came 9th. Stephanie Deegan, our youngest Munster Championship qualifier swam 100m Fly in 1:42 knocking a tremendous 10.43 sec off her previous time, which was a great achievement for Stephanie.
