Three Munster Titles for Tipperary Junior Athletes

The Munster Senior & Junior Indoor Championships took place in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Sunday last, 9th January.

Tipperary had a good day with our Junior athletes winning 11 medals (3 gold, 6 silver & 2 bronze) on the day while our Senior athletes won a total of 5 medals (2 silver & 3 bronze). Gold medals & Munster titles were won by Aoife Bartley, Carrick On Suir A.C. in the Junior Women's Long Jump, Evan Lynch, Clonmel A.C. in the Junior Men's 5km Walk & Shane Prout, Carrick On Suir A.C. in the Junior Men's Triple Jump. Shane O'Dwyer, Carrick On Suir A.C. won double Silver in the Junior Men's Long Jump & High Jump & Aoife Bartley added Silver in the Junior Women's Triple Jump to her gold medal in the Long Jump. 60mH – 3rd Hannah Trehy, Carrick On Suir A.C. (10.76secs).

Junior Men

60m B Final – 2nd Jaco Oosthyusen, Clonmel A.C. (7.63secs); Patrick Lynch, Newport also competed & came 3rd in his heat in a time of 7.7secs).

200m – 5th Patrick Lynch, Newport A.C. (24.48secs); 8th – Jaco Oosthyusen, Clonmel A.C. (25.15secs).

5km Walk – 1st Evan Lynch, Clonmel A.C. (24.37.48mins).

Shot – 4th Jaco Oosthyusen, Clonmel A.C. (10.50m).

Long Jump – 2nd Shane O'Dwyer, Carrick On Suir A.C. (6.66m)

400m – 2nd Kevin Finn, Nenagh Olympic A.C. (60.21secs).

1500m – 3rd Keith Maher, Templemore A.C. (4.45.01mins).

3000m – 14th Tony Fogarty, Thurles Crokes A.C. (9.57.4mins)

15th – Shane Mullaney, Thurles Crokes A.C. (10.06.8mins)

Templemore Athletic Club are hosting a Monster Table Quiz in Murphy's Lounge, Main Street, Templemore this Friday, 14th January at 9.30pm. Admission is E20.00 per table of 4. Refreshments will be served on the night & a valuable raffle will also take place. The funds raised will go towards a new Hammer Cage which is due to be in place by Easter. This will be of enormous benefit to the County & our athletes so your support would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck to all the Tipperary athletes who will be taking part in the Woodie's DIY AAI Juvenile Uneven Age Cross Country Championships this Sunday, 16th January in Charleville Estate, Tullamore. Can all athletes please be in Tullamore Harrier Sports Grounds by 9.30am to meet & register with Tipperary Cross Country Secretary, Mary Doyle. First race is Girls U/11 1500m which starts at 11.30am. Parking is only available in the grounds of Tullamore Harriers Club & the Cross Country Course in nearby Charville Estate is about a 1000m walk away.
