On Sunday Feb 27th last, the County Novice road race got underway from Clonmel on what was a nice day for running. Up first in the women’s race, the mother daughter combo of Marian and Jacqueline Hughes kept the flag flying for the club and gave a good effort over the 3k distance, unfortunately we were one short for a team. In the Mens race we had 2 teams of 4 in action. Right from the gun Vincent Molumby went with the pace at the start and was well positioned in fourth place up to the 3k mark where he picked up an injury and had to pull out. Team captain Declan Doherty kept a strong steady pace going throughout having a great run to finish in 6th place. Billy Phillips and Keith Ryan had a good run as did Austin Ryan, Dave Kennealy, Pat Bracken and anchor man Con Corbet.

In news from across the water, Dennis Shanahan ran a 10 mile race in Plymouth. In an update from the man himself, the leading pack, which included Dennis, was sent the wrong way and had to travel a mile extra than intended so 11 miles in an hour 3mins 19 seconds is good going.

Upcoming Fixtures: The Ballycotton 10 miler is on this Sunday we wish all our athletes the best of luck. Also on this Sunday in Moyne is a 5k fun run if anyone is interested it starts at 12:30pm from the clubhouse. The Munster Senior Novice road championships will take place in Beaufort Co.Kerry on Sunday March the 13th we hope to field a team as we are the defending champions which was won last year in Ennis Co. Clare. Tipperary are also the defending champions in Munster.
