Coolquill A.C.

On Sunday last, the County Novice road championships were held in Clonmel on a very good day for running. We had a large contingent from the club in the mens 6k event. Ross Alexander had a marvellous race as he chased the leaders from the start and finished with great strength to be a closing third out of a starting field of 73 athletes for a super run. Our secomd athlete home for us was John Russell, who really came through over the second half of the race to finish 11th. We then had Donal Horgan going very well in 23rd, followed by our new man Cian Cronin going strong in 26th, followed closely by Matt Alexander in 27th. In 32nd position came Joe Keaney and just behind in 34th we had Andrew Smyth, who was chased home by Dermot Logue in 35th. Our other new recruit to the club, Alan Pearson crossed the line in 56th and we had Jack Alexander coming home in 63rd. Though all the lads ran extremely well, they just missed out on team medals as they came in fourth place.
