Colm’s Fabulous Score

Our June Monthly Medal, which was very kindly sponsored by Joe MacDonald took place over the Bank Holiday weekend and with the course in excellent condition and with perfect golfing conditions on Saturday, Sunday and Monday it was no surprise that there was some excellent scores returned, despite the Competition being a stroke play event played off the blue tees. First past the post with a fabulous score of 70net was Colm Barry, playing off a handicap of 12, with Tony Browne in 2nd place with a fine score of 72net playing off a handicap of 19, while Doug Lam came in 3rd place with 74net playing off a handicap of 16. Category 1 was won by Pat Irwin with 75net and Category 2 by Kevin Ryan with 73net. The Junior Medal was won by young Ben Downey with an excellent 40pts while playing off a handicap of 21.

Open Singles result 1/06, 1st Matt Kennedy with 40Pts playing off a handicap of 2 while Richard Crean from Cahir Park was 2nd with 37Pts playing off a handicap of 4 followed by Ciaran Keating from Tipperary in 3rd with 36Pts playing off a handicap of 15.

Another event continuing for the entire month of June is the Rumble for Crumlin, Team of three format with details posted in the Pro shop. This is a very worthy charity and members are reminded that they can enter as many times as they wish with as many different partners as they like.

The main event next weekend is our Lady Captains Prize which takes place on Saturday and will include a 9 hole Competition for the Gents Club and we would like to wish our Lady Captain Jane the very best of luck on her big day and we are sure that it will be a huge success.

Junior coaching continues every Saturday afternoon under the instruction Club Pro James and team and it’s great to see so many young golfers on the range and putting green.

Our Senior Open Singles continue as usual on Mondays with our Open Singles being run on Wednesdays and all golfers are reminded to please make all bookings and enquiries in advance to 062 – 32117.

Lady Captain’s Day: Our Lady Captain’s Day is on Saturday 11th June. This is an open day and all are welcome. Visitors €20 and Members €15. Please contact pro shop on 062 32117 to arrange a tee time. Visitors are entitled to win all prizes with the exception of the Lady Captain’s Prize which is restricted to members. There is also a special visitor’s prize.

Míele Competition: Also on the 12th is the second round of the Míele competition being played in Balkykisteen and Cahir Park. Tee times are at 3.30 and 3.45. We wish the very best of luck to our team and all support would be welcome on the day.

Tipperary League: The first round of the Tipperary League will be played in Slievenamon, against Slievenamon, on Wednesday 15th June. Tee time 3 p.m.
