All members of the Galtee Walking Club are invited to the AGM, (Thursday, October 10th).
It’s a chance to meet other members and have a say in how the club is run. Last Sunday’s walks took place in overcast conditions with fog on high ground. Joe Browne led a group of 10 on the A walk starting from Galtee Castle car park, covering a 16km loop taking in Knockaterriff and Lyracappul and descending through the Glounreagh valley. They covered the distance in 4.5 hours and climbed a total of 900m. Well done to Joe! 20 people took part in Mary Murphy’s C walk from Ballinvreena to the top of Slievereagh, where the fog cleared in time to provide great views of the Galtees and Slievenamuck to the east and the Ballyhouras to the west. All appreciated the work done by the local community in maintaining the trails. The only club walk next Sunday is a C walk, meeting at Glengarra at 11am with Breda Delahunty. The Nire Valley Festival takes place next weekend.
