Order of Merit Singles

The 2nd of the Order of Merit singles was on last Sunday and Mark Jordan made it 2 in a row with another victory to add to the GOY win of the previous Sunday. The greens were sanded during the week and made putting a lottery but Mark had no complaints as finished without a blank on his card and a birdie 2 at the 5th for good measure enroute to 39 pts.Second place went to a new name in Jim Quaid with the best of those on 37pts.

Jim had 17pts and 20pts for the respective nines to pip the 19pts/18pts of Tim and Eamon Connolly. Tim beat the brother on countback for third place with the better back 6. Toddy Sweeney and Philly Bourke had 36pts although Toddy could have been much better after going to the turn just 1 over for 24 pts but he ``McIlroyed`` over the final nine for just 12pts.

Friday’s Open singles was poorly supported but that wont bother Joe O Connor who won with 34pts to add to his collection of singles wins in 2010.

Our Country Clubs team will be in action in Cahir Park on Sat morning next against Lismore and team manager Pat Delahunty and his men are wished the best of luck. An 11 hole singles will run midwek and the usual open singles on Friday will be followed on Sunday by the second GOY singles.
