Kevin Moloney, Birr Road, wins Captain’s Prize. On Sunday 99 players took part in round 2 of Johnny McDonnell’s Captains Prize. Best score of second 18 holes was Michael McCormack (Toom) with a fine score of 64 nett, second was Kevin Moloney with a 66 nett. In the 9 holes play-off Kevin made no mistakes and emerged the winner with a combined score of 168, with Michael Gleeson second with 171. Full results are as follows:-

ptain Johnny stated that it was a fantastic honour to be Men’s Captain of Roscrea Golf Club. He thanked Golfing Affairs and especially competition secretary Fabian Jones for their great support – also to the Management Committee, Course Staff, Office, Bar and Catering for all their hard work and last but not least to his family for all their help and support. He wished team Captain Marian O’Connor and the Ladies Minor Cup Team best of luck in the Inter-Club Mid-Leinster Finals in Roscrea Golf Club next Sunday.

Kevin Moloney said that he was delighted to win the Captain’s Prize, because of his long friendship with Johnny especially when Johnny was an Inter-County Referee and he was one of Johnny’s team of linesmen and umpires. He also congratulated all the other winners.

Hole in One – Congrats to Joe Dooley (New Line) on having a hole in one on the 14th hole during Saturday’s qualifying round.

Golf Classic – Golf Classic in aid of Leukemia research sponsored by F. Murray Construction takes place on Friday 2nd September. Teams of 4 – Cost €100.00. For timesheet contact Men’s Captain, J. McDonnell at 087 2596208.

I.L.G.U. Mid-Leinster Inter-Club Finals - Next Sunday September 4th Roscrea Golf Club is hosting the I.L.G.U. Mid-Leinster Inter-Club Finals and we welcome the I.L.G.U. officials, all competing teams and supporters to our Club. We are privileged to have our Minor Cup Team in the finals and we take this opportunity to wish Team Captain Marian O’Connor and her Team the best of luck in their match against Arklow. We also extend our best wishes to our neighbours Birr GC whose team are playing against Enniscorthy in the Senior Foursomes section.
