Moyne Athletic Club hosts the County Novice B Cross Country Championships near the Lisheen Mines today Sunday in conjunction with the Juvenile B Cross Country Championships.

Moyne Athletic Club hosts the County Novice B Cross Country Championships near the Lisheen Mines today Sunday in conjunction with the Juvenile B Cross Country Championships.

In the Ladies race going on the County Novice event the leading contenders are Elaine Horgan and Una Redfern of Clonmel along with Laura Burke of Coolquill, Anne Cummins and Trish Blackburn of Moore Abbey Milers, Clare Devitt of Dundrum and Eileen Carey of Thurles Crokes. All these athletes are running well at present and all of them have a genuine chance of a podium position as well as having a major say in the destination of the title.

The Men’s race will also be a very competitive race. Here there are a number of athletes well capable of winning the title and having a major say in its destination. Athletes like Patrick Cummins (Moycarkey Coolcroo), Patrick Roche (Carrick on Suir), the Dundrum duo of Brian Hartnett and Colm Bradshaw as well Paudie O Keeffe and Gerard O Loughlin (Clonmel), Andrew Smyth (Coolquill) and Billy Phillips (Thurles Crokes).
