Juvenile News - It’s been a busy few weeks for the club. On Sunday 21st October five of our athletes travelled down to Beaufort, Co Kerry for the Munster Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Championships.

Juvenile News - It’s been a busy few weeks for the club. On Sunday 21st October five of our athletes travelled down to Beaufort, Co Kerry for the Munster Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Championships.

It was a lovely day with a fine course. All five were competing in the U10 age group. First up were the U10 girls, they all ran very well in a very fast & competitive race, with Rachel Leonard leading the Templemore girls home finishing in 42nd place, followed by Kirsty Quinlan (49th), Neassa Towey (58th) & Molly Nevin (67th). The girls were part of the Tipperary Team that finished in 4th place. Jack Nevin was our sole representative in the Boys U10, Jack ran a terrific race and put in a very strong finish to finish in 27th position, again Jack was on the Tipperary team that finished in 4th place.

County Uneven ages Cross Country Championships

On Sunday last 28th October the club was represented by 23 juvenile athletes at the County Uneven ages Cross Country Championships. This was the largest representation the club has had at Cross Country in a number of years. In the Girls U9 race Neassa Towey used her experience to finish 1st, followed by her team mates, Casey Crous (11th), Molly Nevin (16th), Geena Quinlan (21st) & Avril Tangri (45th). With these results the girls also won a Silver Team medal. In the Boys U9, first home for Templemore was Padraig Collins who finished a very strong 8th to win an individual medal. Larry Ryan was placed 18th with Ronan Tangri finishing in 24th position.

In the Girls U11 we had seven athletes competing, Grainne Hennessy ran a fine race to finish in 7th place, she was followed by her team mates, Saoirse Fogarty(12th), Cliodhna Fogarty(13th), Emma Fitzpatrick(19th), Rachael Burke(22nd), Emma Wilson(25th), Emma Holly(43th). The girls just missed out on a team medal, finishing in 4th place.

In the Boys U11, Conor Cadel put in a fantastic performance to finish in 4th place, with Niall Moloney coming in 27th place.

In the Girls U13 Eva Rush ran a steady race to finish in 17th position, in the Boys U13 Ben Collins finished 25th. In the Boys U15 Luke Herke had a fantastic race to take the gold medal, Robert Kennedy finishing in 10th place. Sarah Ryan ran a very good race in the Girls U17 finishing in 7th place.

It was a fantastic day for all who competed, everyone ran like troopers, fought to the finish and made Templemore AC proud as punch, even though it was wet and cold there were still smiles. Well done all.
