County Uneven Age Championships Turnpike, Twomileborris: County Championships for Boys/Girls U/9,11,13, 15 took place in Two Mile Borris on Sunday Oct 28th, on an undulating and testing Cross-Country Course.

Our U/9 Girls Team were first in action, with Ellen Bracken (13th) our leading runner ahead of Clodagh Morris in 15th place. Next home we had Eilis Ryan, Rebecca O’Mara, Rebecca Shanahan and Micaela Tracey to combine for 5th place in the Team Race.

In the Boys U/9 race Daragh Minogue ran well to the fore to finish 10th in a competitive race followed by a good showing from Jimmy Bruin, Rory Fleming and Sean Gleeson. This team was a competitive 4th, only 2 points outside the Bronze Medal position. Shannon Daly competed well in the Girls U/11 1500m race. In the U/11 Boys race Colin Morris and Adam Daly had fine runs, well up with the leaders throughout the race with both finishing in the top 10, Colin finishing 5th and Adam 8th. A good showing for Shane Ryan in 15th and nice running from Alex Crowley, Sean Dwyer and Jack O’Mara secured 3rd place for Crokes in the Team Race. The Boys U/13 Team excelled, with powerful running from Fred Crowley (2nd), leading the way and indeed he challenged strongly for the outright win. He was closely followed by Eoin Purcell (3rd) and Eanna Ryan (4th), running strongly in his first run over the 2.5k distance.

Kieran Moloney (7th) and Kevin Bracken (11th) came next to win the Team Gold for Crokes with a 16 points total. Michael Purcell returning from injury finished 4th in the U/15 Boys race, but he will improve on this showing. Ciara Bracken also fared well in the Girls U/15 race over 3k.

County Intermediate: Great cross-country running by Marie Fitzgibbon saw her pick up another County Title in Two Mile Borris. She followed up her win in the County Novice and a Top 10 finish in the Munster Championships with a good win in wet and testing conditions. She was supported by Jacqueline Hughes, running well in 8th place.

Shane Mullanney took on the challenging course in the Men’s race and secured a top 10 finish in 8th place in the Intermediate. Darragh Purcell and Pat Bracken also competed well in Two mile Borris for Crokes. Congrats to all our athletes for their committed efforts on Sunday.
