Slievenamon - Sarah Sensation Of Captain’s Prize

Thirteen year old Sarah McDermott was the sensation of the ladies Captain’s Prize (Patricia Walsh) when she returned a brilliant score of 50 nett in the very windy conditions. Sarah as a junior was not entitled to win the Captain’s Prize but I’m sure we will be hearing plenty more about her and her good friend Abbie Kiely over the coming years, Abbie missed out on the Captain’s prize due to being on a family holiday. The Captain’s Prize was won by Catherine Cooney with a score 73 nett with Kathleen Kelly was second with 72 nett (Kathleen missed out on first place due to not having sufficient competitions played). Kathleen Shanley finished third with 73 nett. Mary Kenrick won the gross prize with a score of 91. The Ladies Club would like to sincerely thank the Management and Staff for the preparation of the course for Captain’s Day and a most enjoyable day’s golf was had by everyone.  Congratulations and well done to Pauline Lucey and Majella Smith who were successful in making it through to the next round of the Australian Spoons competition and the best of luck to the ladies in the next round. Please note that the club Match Play Competition is to be completed by the end of June.  Ladies who have outstanding matches to play are asked to arrange to play these matches as soon as possible. The McGarry Cup will be held on Sunday, 3rd July.  Draw for partners will take place on Thursday evening 30th July.  Please contact the club for your tee time. The Tuesday Stableford competition will be held on 5th July.  It has been decided to put a timesheet in place for the Tuesday 18 hole competition for a trial period with effect from Tuesday, 5th July.  The time sheet will be available on the notice board and will apply to Tuesdays only. There is an 18 hole competition for the month of July.
